Cole Ragans struck out 10 batters over a career-best 7 2/3 innings and Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer as the visiting Kansas City Royals salvaged the finale of their three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians with a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.It was the third straight game that Ragans struck out 10 or more batters, joining Kevin Appier (1996) as the only pitchers in Royals history to accomplish that feat. He walked two and struck out five.Cleveland took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Schneemann lined a two-out double to the wall in left-center, driving in Jhonkensy Noel, who had singled. Joe Ryan continued his mastery of Kansas City hitters by tossing two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings as the Minnesota Twins posted a 4-0 victory over the host Royals on Wednesday night.Ryan threw just 85 pitches, struck out four and walked none while improving to 7-0 in nine career starts against Kansas City. His ERA against the Royals dropped to 1.30.Griffin Jax replaced Ryan (1-1) and gave up one hit during a scoreless eighth inning. The Kansas City Royals placed outfielder/first baseman Mark Canha on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a left abductor strain.In a corresponding move, the Royals recalled outfielder Drew Waters from Triple-A Omaha.Canha left Tuesday's home game against the Minnesota Twins in the sixth inning with left hip soreness after crashing into the left-field wall while attempting to catch Harrison Bader's drive in the fifth. Canha held Bader to an RBI single as the Royals won 2-1.Kansas City had acquired Canha on March 22 in a trade with Milwaukee for a player to be named later or cash. The Brewers had signed him as a free agent to a minor league contract on Feb. 24.Canha, 36, reportedly let the Brewers know he planned to exercise a clause in his contract that required the team to put him on the 40-man roster or allow him to become a free agent. As a result, the Brewers traded him to the Royals.After making his third start of the season, Canha is batting .357 (5-for-14) in seven games.

Bobby Witt Jr. scored twice and manufactured the decisive run in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the Kansas City Royals notch a 2-1 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.Witt hit a slow tapper back to Minnesota reliever Griffin Jax (0-1) with one out in the eighth. Instead of an easy out, Jax airmailed the throw to first base and the ball rolled down the right-field line.Witt never stopped running and easily reached third base. Vinnie Pasquantino followed with a slow tapper to first base and Witt scored without a throw to give Kansas City the lead.Witt reached base three times on a double, a walk and the 8th-inning error. The Royals had just three hits while beating the Twins for the second straight night and sixth consecutive time overall.Kansas City reliever John Schreiber (1-0) got the win, giving up two hits in 1 2/3 innings, and Daniel Lynch IV recorded the final out for his first save.The Twins threatened in the top of the eighth as Ryan Jeffers and Trevor Larnach singled to put runners at the corners with one out. But Schreiber induced a Carlos Correa grounder to Witt, who began a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.Correa had two of Minnesota's seven hits.Royals starter Cole Ragans struck out 11 in six innings. Tomoyuki Sugano took a shutout into the sixth inning as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the host Kansas City Royals 8-1 Saturday afternoon.Gary Sanchez, Tyler O'Neill and Jackson Holliday all drove in two runs as the Orioles halted a three-game losing streak that included an 8-2 setback in Friday night's series opener. Holliday finished with three of Baltimore's 12 hits, while O'Neill had the team's only two extra-base hits with a double and a triple.Sugano (1-1), in his second big-league appearance, gave up one run on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 5 1/3 innings. Bryan Baker, Keegan Akin and Matt Bowman combined for 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief, though Akin issued a pair of walks in his two innings on the mound.The Orioles scored their first six runs with two outs. The Kansas City Royals acquired infielder/outfielder Nick Gordon from the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday for cash considerations.Gordon, who signed a minor league deal with the Orioles in the offseason, was 4-for-13 in four games at Triple-A Norfolk.The 29-year-old Gordon has played in the major leagues in each of the four previous seasons, batting .244 with 23 home runs and 112 RBIs in 338 games for the Minnesota Twins (2021-23) and Miami Marlins (2024).
